National Day of Prayer Service

Thursday, May 2, 2019, is designated as the National Day of Prayer.  Indian Springs Baptist Church is hosting a community-wide prayer service at 7:00 PM.   The service will consist of prayers for our churches, government leaders, military, schools, and for revival across our nation.  This year's theme is "Love One Another," and
is based upon John 13:34, "I give you a new command: Love one another.  Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another."
This is the 68th anniversary of the National Day of Prayer, it was established by federal law in 1952.  The United States Congress passed a joint resolution and it was signed by President Harry Truman.  The date was amended in 1988 designating the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer.
The Miccosukee United Methodist Church and the Church of God of Prophecy will be represented by their choirs and pastors.  Each choir will sing a special and their pastors will be leading in prayer. Several "Gold Star" families will be present this year.  Gold Star families are the immediate relatives of members of the U. S. Armed Forces who were killed in combat or in support of certain military activities.  Our nation honored its first Gold Star families during World War I.
Please join us for this worship and prayer service and the opportunity to honor these Gold Star families.  We encourage the wearing of patriotic colors: red, white, and blue.
